first ryzen build, question about memory

noticed there is no XMP profile in the bios. i did find DOCP which seems to be like XMP profile. but when i use it my board won't post. i tried manual settings too 3000 CL15 v1.35. that didn't work either. wondering if my sticks are bad or if there is some other settings i have to adjust to make ryzen play nice with my ram.

What motherboard are you using? It's strange there is no XMP profile you can set. Ryzen should be able to handle 3000MHz RAM without much issue.

I'd make sure you updated the bios to the latest version, then why not pump the voltage on the sticks a bit XMP profile allows up to 1.5V as being safe Robert Hallock at Amd even states this but try 1.4V. 

 

Next if that fails make sure you have them in the right slots your board says A2+B2

Hmm... Well, the system should support up to 3600MHz, I couldn't find any info why it couldn't boot to that speed...

 

Anyway, the best thing you can do is to get your SPD data of your RAM. CPU-Z software can list down the data such as CL or tCAS. Maybe you can try to use the data for overclocking. You can also try to get support from your RAM manufacturer.

 

In any case, try using your RAM to a different system and see if the XMP profile works. That should be able to tell you if your RAM has issue or not.
