MSI X299 Gaming Pro worth getting?

I might be able to get an MSI X299 Gaming Pro board for a very good price. However it seems this board has been discontinued.

Would it be worth getting anyway?

I was trying to look for a review by Linus or Buildzoid but I didn't find anything

its good. tho its a bit odd to go to skylake X derivatives atm.

I guess. Though this board + 10980XE would be cheaper than just a TR 3960X chip with no motherboard. Sure the 3960X would probably be faster but the Intel platform is many hundreds cheaper in this circumstance. But yes I have to consider do I want a dead-end platform

yup, keep also in mind if that you dont need the PCIe lanes. the X570 + 3950x is also an option.

as a chip for the PCIe lanes it makes sense. if that is not what you are after, then other options are likely better to stretch to or save money on.

The 3950X is pretty much on par with the 10980XE while having 2 less cores and being significantly cheaper though.

So unless you want the platform specific features then maybe think it trough and decide if you really need to go HEDT.
