Lga 771 cooling nightmare

ShaunK

Please help guys and girls!

I need a decent quiet cooler for a dual lga 771 setup. Cant get one anywhere!

Only thing I have found is a thermaltake hr 01x but only place to buy was a south African website that does not ship internationally!

Any help at all will be amazing because I'm out of options

Just find a LGA 775 cooler, same mounting hole sizing

For example arctic freezer 7: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Freezer-Pro-Rev-Multi-Compatible/dp/B002G392ZI

Edit: Oh shiz I am wrong - bail out, sizing isn't the same -_-

Alright there is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NH-U12DX-120mm-6-Heatpipes-Intel/dp/B001GWT22S

Damn it's hard to find.. And it's super pricey.

Socket is so old AND was only used for one consumer CPU so it's normal not to find much new apart from those who try to make a buck on "hard to find" parts, probably better to look at the used market and you'll likely just find server style coolers.

Careful now, if you are using a server board, it might complain quite loudly (and refuse to boot) if the existing cooling solution isn't installed. This is the case for the Dell PowerEdge line of server motherboards that used the Socket 771 CPUs.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorted!!  Picked up some big heatsinks from a dell t7400 and attacheched an arctic f9 pro pwm to the front and a p8 pwm to the rear of each heatsink....

Now the cooling is superb ?

Thanks though guys
