Reposting a high trafic thread.

Hi guys!

 

What do you think about reposting threads like what is you background and or show of you setup, because your comment just get buried under 300+ other comments and sometimes the thread is 50+ pages and (almost) nobody is going to go to the 69'th page to look at a comment. 

 

I like those threads like Show Off Your Setup but you just can't view them anymore because there are just to many comments.

 

What do you think about it?

They're stupid, pointless, and people generally do it because it is a 'hot' or 'pinned' thread

In threads that are bigger and active i tend to check the last few pages after reading the first page if i haven't seen it before. The last few pages are normally the active ones so why would people only look at the first few as when you do that there will be a tendency to respond to posts that are months or even years old at times.

I would rather they didn't, a lot of people look normally look through the last few pages before posting. And anyway it's fun to look through the really old posts.

those threads are so big because most people don't read anything on them, they either glance over it or just post what they wanted to post then leave and move on, so you have hundreds of people posting their crap and almost no ones who bothers reading any of that crap.

With big threads proper procedure is read the op and maybe a reply or two then head off to tge latest few pages and catch your self up before replying or posting.

I don't think so. Some threads just get insanely huge to the point where several people have a discussion and it becomes impossible to see any posts other than the  ones in the discussion between 1-4 people. When the topics get really off topic I think a new topic has reason to exist.

Welcome to forums. If you really value your post and thing everyone should easily re-view it I think you should send a request to the Forum Hall of Fame, they will have it plastered on the over 10 Billion post hall of fame thread. Where all the super valuable posts go and are.

Some of those threads are rather pointless i think anyway, but on the good ones maybe....

Many "show-off" and "what-is" style threads are pretty boring and repeated. I check Show off you rig daily or everytime I come to forum. Then there are some others that peak my interest. But in most cases I won't bother to post.

They should automate it so reposts get merged with the original, this won't be hard to do the only thing that would hold them back from doing this is the algorithm which would check relativity of posts.
