Does anyone know about Pockit Prepaid card?

Shutset

Lately, I've been researching prepaid cards to see which is the best one to use for anonymous online spending.

So far, the supposedly best one that's available is called Pockit.

https://www.pockit.com/

What it offers sounds too good to be true but as I went through the customer reviews on Trustpilot, I often found reviews consistently claiming that Pockit froze customer accounts, often with their money still stored, and asked for personal information to verify them (i.e. Where they got the money from?). The company's responses to those complaints were always uniform, saying it was necessary to verify their accounts and such. All the responses were pre-written, which didn't help things for me.

However, the majority of reviews were positive and they didn't report having that same problem, leaving me confused.

So I wonder if anybody knows enough of Pockit from personal experience to clarify this.

Thanks.

Why not just use a bank account? Prepaid debit is always a predatory rip-off.

Because last time I checked, an account on that site is only for use in America.

I live in Europe, unless that has changed recently.

Ah, well I didn't see that in your original post

Revolut seems to be another option for European users

why a prepaid debit card and not a prepaid credit card, or a secured credit card or a non-secured credit card ?

What are you buying that you don't want; the bank to know about?  Unless you are trying to get someone assassinated, no one cares what you buy online.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

thats totally bs, of course companies and organizations care what you buy online, of course they do.

but your point is valid mr moose

there is a section of society that cant get credit whether they are too young, they are newcomers to the country, maybe its a last minute deal, there are plenty of options available to get access to payment methods. gift credit cards have a high fee structure, those can be found in grocery stores, convience stores, predatory lending companies that give out payday loans, if you want to bypass the institutional banking structure all together.

Unless you are buying something federally illegal no one cares what you buy online. Banks are not looking at every single charge that goes through and seeing what you bought.

For OP.

Theres always going to be a higher risk with prepaid cards over bank cards. The tos for prepaid cards will always side with them over you. They could close your account for basically anything and hold your money for months. Im not saying it will happen. But that it could.

Personally if i was going to use prepaid i would only load it with enough to buy what i needed and with money that wouldnt hurt me too much financially if it was caught up in some ba for a while.

Unless you are buying something illegal (and even in that case i would use btc over a prepaid) your better off using a bank card.

Idk EU laws on banks though.

no clue if banks look at statements or not, they sure have easy access to them. i would assume its federally mandated in some way that they shouldnt be able to view any info. seeing how a bank customer is always buying shit from the liquor store everyday, may influence the banks lending practices to the bank customer. or if the client is hitting the porno stores, if they do a lot of returns. banks love info, and use algorithms for everything inc risk factors.

to companies, what customers buy is a gold mine of information, a treasure trove of juicy info to capitalize on

with the major credit cards there is consumer protection, along with federal protections. the likes of visa and mastercard are the mainstreams, and dont want to be stuck with a diners club, discovery card, american express as those fee structures to the merchant are different, and its that one store that you absolutely want something from and low and behold, they dont take no 2nd rate a/e, disc card, diners club credit cards.

how long a person has to wait for an investigation into fraud, and that person getting their money back is another story.

that is why an unsecured credit card is good to have, its not your personal money that was defrauded, though you are liable up until the bank does something, and sure banks have royally fucked over people, just like the tax man.

of course eu laws are different so do read the fine print

as for https://www.pockit.com/

i see a mc logo, so thats good to see.

speaking of fine print

Make a transfer online, or pay in cash with PayPoint at more than 28,000 local shops.

Get your wages or benefits paid directly into your Pockit account each month.

Start using Pockit right away with your own UK account number and sort code.

28k shops doesnt sound like a lot

pockit membership 1 gbp /month which is a typical fee charged

account balances are free which is good

what exactly is a PayPoint?

i see no address for a main office on their website

wiki states " PayPoint plc is a British business offering a system for paying bills in United Kingdom, Ireland and Romania. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. "

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PayPoint

they look legit

just load a little money on there, in order to buy what your going to buy, but that 1gbp/month fee still adds up over a year. remember that.

in australia we have a card called a load and go (just like a debit card but you need to add money to use every time)

i assume that where you live there should be something similar

try going to your local post office and ask if they have something like that
