I can't think of anyone who has a desk and sits 8 feet away from it. Kind of called a console at that point.

Its always been worth it tbh, if u can work around OLED pixel degradation (burn-in), and dont mind a huge 55" display.

I’ve had my c8 since it came out no burn in yet

I am getting a 55" B9 for a 30" wide table. 50" would be better but that size of TV has less features.

 

At first I planned to get a 65" to replace 55" Sony that is in the traditional spot in front of the sofa but know one in my family watches tv or games like that any more. 

To me the setup makes sense and maybe I will get some console gaming in with it as well.

Aye, so long as content is varied they are fine.

 

However use as a primary PC display, will likely cause 'burn in', especially if the PC is regularly used for long periods.

Things like task bars, window borders, and high contrast game UI's will 'burn in'.

 

if they were not so expensive, and so big at 55" minimum size , i would likely get one regardless of the issue, i would do my best to work around it like i do with my Plasma.

 

Give it another 5 or so years and if OLED is still be developed they should be fine to use. Last i heard some developers have successfully created copper and silver doped OLED color emitters. Which if used should increase efficiency and lower cost. I would also expect that they would also be more durable so perhaps we may have a future were OLED 'burn in' is a significantly reduced risk.
