sketchyish power supply?

so my pc is currently running on the edge of its 430w power supply (previous owner jumped the 6 pin pci plug to an 8 pin for the GPU) and i would like to do some overclocking to give this machine some life. so i realize i need a new power supply but im on a very tight budget and i don't use this system enough to warrant spending alot on parts. so i went to the used markets and found https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/csw/sop/d/victoria-bfg-1000-watt-power-supply/7022102404.html which ive heard of the brand once on an LTT scrapyard wars lol. Should i get it as the wattage rating is way more then i need even if the unit isn't the best or should i avoid it like the plague.

Your PSU is very important. Always spend the extra cash if it's going into a system you care about.

That power supply is ancient (2006), so I wouldn't recommend it.  If you're going to be overclocking a single graphics card, a modern PSU between 550W and 650W will be more than enough.

I would not recommend using a 12-13 year old used power supply you got from a flea market.

The box for the power supply gave me a good chuckle though.

"Works with AGP" lol, very useful.

That "Lifetime Warranty" is useless since the company went out of business back in 2010. Considering this unit would have been purchased around 2006-2007, that "Lifetime" warranty would have only been valid for around 3-4 years, less than most decent warranties

AMD Phenom ii x6 1055t 

ASRock 890x pro 3

EVGA (i think) gtx 960 FTW

No. Get a PSU, preferably new, from the PSU Tier List in my sig. Get something Tier B or above. That's a good unit.
