Computer desk\table\furniture.

I guess this belongs here.

I am looking for maybe a new table(but gonna wait with it for a while), so I was browsing for "computer tables/desks". But most of those are flimsy tables for laptop.

What should I look for, for massive desktops desks?

Right now I have a custom made table, but it's not too fancy.

What do you suggest for a table for your desktop?

 

I have also all sort of questions what is better. Keyboard on table? In a keyboard drawer? Put the PC on the table? On some tray underneath? Cable management?

 

So basically I ask where to look for desktop computers desks, and what should I look for in a table for a desktop?

I would say make another one. Store bought desks are made of cheap porous materials that tend to wear down super easy.

 

I've been using desktops made from melamine boards and 1x4 for like 10 years now and it hasn't done me any bad. Plus it's cheaper

Ikea desks are very solid.  Composite woods vs particle boards.  Thicker veneers.  Stouter legs.  Etc.

I wouldn't look specifically for a "computer" desk, rather search for a desk that meets your requirements and use your computer on it.

Second hand IKEA Galant is

Super cheap, very large (IMO) and super sturdy.

 

Personally I would say ditch the keyboard tray; just get a desk that is a good height, a chair that can match and monitors at a decent height too. That way you can get the optimal ergonomics (for a sitting desk) too.

For cable management, I took the not-so-easy route (but very cheap route) of just having some rope like material under my desk and the cables are just routed through that. Works for me! A Signum or similar would be better though..

 

Ultimately it's down to your own opinion. Whether you want to spend a lot of time+money getting what is exactly right for you or not.

Yea, I am not sure what I am looking for a desk.

I have basically a mac, a PC and a laptop.

Obviously I want to not reach the state where I have tons of cables running on the desk.

But how would I cable manage it?

Also, ideally all power source cables won't be on the floor, as that makes it harder to clean the room. Requiring me to unplug everything before I can clean the floor.

Also, should I keep the desktop bellow the table? Would that make it collect less dust?

Should I put the desktop inside a pressurized(with fans) "casing"?

I bought two of these from my local Walmart. They're sturdy and I've used them for about two years with no issues. They look small from the picture but are big enough for just one to hold my 24" monitor, peripherals, and full size gaming rig on top of the desk. I bought two so when I had my triple monitors I could just set them right next to each other and have it as one long desk. Right now I only have one monitor so I have them setup in an L shape in the corner by my window and they work great, big plus too when buddies stay over or I host lan parties, I have an extra desk ready to go. They're cheap but still decent quality, you can by a couple of them for less than a huge desk, they have shelves, they are very easy to take apart and rebuild as long as you have a screw driver so you can store or transport them easily. They aren't the most expensive desk with all the necessities but they work for me.

Ikea.    Good desk, cable management features, height adjust, etc.  Find a second hand Galant, like mentioned above.  I love mine.

 

desktop PC will collect dust no matter where you place it, that's how dust works.  Look around your house,EVERYTHING gets dusty.

What do you mean height adjust?

btw, I don't think they sell Galant tables anymore at IKEA,doesn't seem available. At least not new.
