Hey guys, so here is a link to the build I'm planning on ordering on Black Friday, and here's my dilemma with it.

1. My original budget was to be $3,000 CAD INCLUDING the monitor. Now there's not much in regards to cheaper UW 1440 monitors, so here's what I'm considering for monitors.

- Bestbuy and Memory Express both have the Asus ROG PG348Q on sale for $700 ($400 off), so I can either pick it up where I live, and with tax have it be ~$960

- OR I can send my parents out west money, have my Dad pick it up (with tax out west it's only $844, and have them either mail it to me, or I'll pick it up when I fly home for christmas a few weeks later).

2. Then, I will purchase the setup above, pending any black friday deals (hopefully good ones)

- I'm also VERY open to anyone tossing out a few changes that will save me a few pennies. I know there's some unnecessary stuff in there, but since it's in such a nice case, I want it to look great.

Thanks for any help

EDIT 2:

I updated my build and scrapped the m.2 (I can upgrade to one later) and I’ll take the 2x SATA SSDs from my current rig, and I dropped down to a 240mm rad, and to a evga 2080S saving $50 which will all said and done save me almost $300 keeping

me at my ideal 3k limit, Before

tax

I have the acer ed347ckr. VA pannel, 3440x1440 100Hz freesync(48-100), Gsync works well. Overclocks to 120Hz(with gsync off, also gsync wont let you set overdrive to high) .Surprisingly Nvidia control pannel tells me it has 10bit support!

Its pretty good for the price. Check it out!

Sounds and looks good, but it doesn’t look like it’s available anywhere in Canada

As much as I love AMD, I would maybe look at sticking to an intel chip. They're just more efficient for gaming.

My thought exactly. It’s so much cheaper than the 9700k, and I’m banking on a wee little sale on Black Friday

Not bad, but honestly you're not going to save much once you factor in shipping that monitor back East. The box is going to be huge.

As for the build:

  • Cooler is a little on the expensive side
  • I'd swap the SSD for the HP EX920
  • See if the Corsair 570X RGB goes on sale for Black Friday at the Canadian NewEgg. It's going for $119 in the US. Then you can skip buying the $70 worth of fans.

That’s a fair point, but I can actually fly with free luggage, including overweight fees (perk of a job) so I could keep it in its original packaging, maybe bubble wrap it, and just fly home with it for free.

and I almost have my heart really set on the Lian Li, but I’m definitely open to flexing my build based on any sales, so I’ll for sure keep my eye open for that.

And how come the SSD switch?

EDIT: Yeah the cooler is a little pricey, but I kinda wanted a triple rad for aesthetic reasons, but I think I’d end up top mounting it anyways, so I think I could get away with a 240mm if it’s a lot cheaper

Yeah that’s not really an option, since here in Canada 2080tis are like $1,500+

I put the new build in my post, but I think what I might do, is drop the m.2 entirely (I can easily get on down the road if I want to) and sacrifice the 2x SSDs out of my current rig, then drop down to a 240mm rad, and get an evga black gaming 2080 ($50 cheaper), and with the $800 monitor I’ll still be at my ideal 3k price tag (before

tax)

I'd buy an SSD now if you plan on getting one. Pricing will eventually go back up.

Other than that, build looks good. Just wait for Black Friday, check out Memory Express as they usually have some of the best sales, and buy based on that.

I put up a different post, probably should have mended this one, but I’m gonna drop the RGB Ram, get a 1TB HDD, and sacrifice the 2 SSDs out of my current rig (unless there’s a good BF sale). And I’ll keep an eye out! Hopefully ME has either free shipping, or a good enough deal to warrant paying shipping. I was looking into an UW monitor and it was going to be $50 shipping
