Yes you probably could stop paying for a subscription of 25 us dollars for the gold subscription. I'm contributing for the gold badge but i want to lower what Im paying for in the next couple of months

Wait I've been wondering what this was but found no information what is it? I see members with GOLD, BRONZE etc... contributions.

It's just a 5/15/25 dollar monthly contribution to linusmediagroup which gives some minor benefits such as a special forum area, and discounts at the shop

AFAIK you pay either monthly or annually and will be signed with that member level as long as you pay. Lowering or canceling will remove/degrade badge.
