Is it worth waiting for next gen laptops?

Hi all.

 

New here but wanted to ask opinions on whether buying an £1500+ laptop is worth it or if waiting for more of the next gen intel chips to release in laptops would be better?

Worth it how?  A computer is a tool.

Depends on what you need to do, or need to keep on doing.  If all you do is browse the internet, watch movies, and use a word processor, last year’s $200 ultra book is fine.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Sorry some more info...

I currently have an MSI ge72 6qd with the gtx 960m.

Mainly used for games new releases such as borderlands, gears, outer worlds - although it's starting to struggle to keep 60 fps without dropping quality considerably. Also used for .net software development and some running a linux vm.

 

I'd like something that can replace this and looking to spend around £1500 - £2000. I like the msi gs75 stealth and the razor pro 17 for the looks but they are a little above my price range.
