Hi everyone,

Soon I`ll have my for my new pc, but I`m not sure on which parts to stop.

This is for now parts list:

-- Below I`ll write my questions

image.png.8760090ecd5e6cc3425caa2b76c06851.png

I`ll be using this system for gaming, streaming, Adobe (video and art), little as workstation. 1440p

1. I want to grab EKWB RGB 360  for CPU cooling and overclocking (later GPU Water block also) - Is the kit capable of this ?

2. GPU - I might find for upgrade to 2080 or 2080S - worth it ?

3. Power supply - 850W is ok for gpu, cpu overclock and water kit ?

4. Monitor - want 1440p, but 60Hz or 144Hz is better, and no idea for model ?

1. I let expert tell you about that imo I prefer air cooling.

2. 2070S = 2080 roughly so go for the 2080S if you can.

3. It's even overkill, 650w should be plenty, 550w should be enough.

4. 144Hz is better, you will want IPS for video and art.

Intel is better with Adobe too but I won't recommend it anyway just so you know :P

Don't buy a CPU cooler if you plan to go custom loop, the included cooler is enough until then.

Overkill motherboard, the elite or pro would be enough.

PS : use the link in PCP instead of a screenshot ;)

You could save quite a bit of money as some of those parts are a bit overpriced or not really needed.

An MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX would save you money on the motherboard. It works out of the box with the 3700X and no silly chipset fan.

You can get much cheaper ram. No need to buy 3600MHz anyway. A 3000 - 3200 is more than fine.

An RX 5700 XT would be a cheaper option if you are going with a 2070 Super.

A 550W psu would be enough.

I personally wouldn't bother doing a custom loop for a 3700X or 2070 Super. Neither really run hot enough to warrant that.

As is it might be 400W more than you actually need.

Is this a gaming focus build? you could shrink the costs with a R5 3600 with cheaper motherboard like the ASUS X570 Prime-P and 3200mhz memory kit instead and then pick the RTX 2080 Super...

it should give better gaming performance in the end since there's little gains in gaming alone going with the 3700X and also little to no performance difference on the memory if you're going to use XMP only.

As you can see for gaming only as most games won't use more than 6 cores, the fact the cores inside a 3600 and inside a 3700X are the same and PBO can push them equally means the performance is about the same.

Same thing happens on memory, unless you'll manually fine tune the timings the XMP alone will provide little difference:

If you want to do enthusiast overclocking pick an Intel Core i7 / i9 since there's really no such thing as overclocking on Ryzen 3000 series, what you do is turn on PBO and that's it... no need for expensive cooling at all.

Quick upgrade,

sticking with

2080S

my company with give the water kit as present :D, so this will be for free

RAM

3600hz CL16 - found promotion and got them a lot cheaper (33%).

Base CPU fan I`ll use until water kit comes.

PSU - 850W is perfect for me and I dont save soo much from it, if I go 650-750W.

Motherboard - here I`ll change, not sure what. If someone can suggest for custom loop with RGB controller and nice interface for OC purposes  ?

 X570 Crosshair VIII Formula or X570 Aqua ? :P

Aorus Ultra/Pro/Elite, Asrock Taichi or Asus Strix-F/E are good options.
