Big FPS drops in games

James730730

Hello guys, I need some help. I have a 1080ti, a 4770k, 16GB ram, and I am getting huge FPS drops during gaming. Going from 60 fps to 0 for a couple of seconds, this happens a couple of times a minute. I have used DDU to reinstall my graphics driver, and I don't really know what else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Games affected include Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Far Cry 5, plus others.

Edit: To add to this, my CPU utilisation and GPU aren't hitting 100%

What's your Ram usage? Just curious. Also try disabling Windows Game bar, Nvidia Shadowplay (Overlay thing), discord overlay  <-- those 3 are usual suspects for FPS drops.

Try running game in windowed borderlands or fullscreen, just choose the one that you're not running in right now and test that out.

Ram usage is about 80%. But I've disabled discord overlay and it seems to be okay at the moment with Assassin's Creed. The overlay was on, but I haven't ever seen a pop up for it. I didn't even realise discord had an in game overlay. ?

If your GPU doesnt get 100%, its often a sign of a Bottleneck from the CPU. Depends on the Game. But 0 FPS is a sign of a problem not relaited to a bottleneck.. With your CPU im sure there is a little bottlenecking here and there, but nothing that would make Gaming serious worse. Did you run a benchmark? Check Temps ect. The usual stuff?

Usage:

GPU = more is better

CPU = less is better

Check if there is some unnecessary programs running in the background, this can hurt your performance and slow things down.
