Need some help with my MOBO

So I just changed out some hardware. Put in a new mobo Asus ROG STRIX X-570-E Gaming, with a Ryzen 9 3900X and 64gb of G.SKILL trident Z Neo memory.

 

I plugged it into my psu and installed everything, and when trying to power it on the psu clicks and nothing happens. 

 

Board lights up just fine and talking to Asus tech support they mentioned my mobo needed a bios flash to the recent one so the board will recognize my CPU. 

 

So I'm trying that first and using the bios flashback on the board it's just sitting there with a solid light. Been like 10 minutes, am I messing up somewhere? 

 

First time having to mess with this kind of troubleshooting so any help would be appreciated.

how did you use the bios flashback feature?

Well I got it working. Plugging a USB into the bios USB slot. It finished this time but my main issue is that the Computer isn't booting. Hit the power button it tries and just sits there not doing anything. 

 

Motherboard lights up. This is my issue right now. 

I should mention this was happening before flashing the bios.

EPS connector on the top left plugged in? Also possible that the on/off switch isn't connected properly or isn't working.

The 8 pin is. I had a 4 pin also plugged into connector next to it cause I assume it needs to be plugged in. I just unplugged that and left the 8 pin in and it booted up. 

 

I was also trying to boot it up by bridging the two with a screwdriver just to see if it was the front panel connector. It's working now but as I'm new to having more than just an 8 pin eps connector I want to know is it necessary to plug both in or just leave the 8?

it's fine with just the 8pin, not even 3950X can overload that normally
