Question on my first motherboard.

This is my first time using any forum ever so i hope this is the right place to post. Anyways i while back i built my first PC. I used a ROG strix B360-h, which is rated for a max ram speed of 2666, the processor I'm using, an i5-8500, also rate at a max speed 2666. My question is, why in the bios are there many option for a bunch of speeds up to 4000 way above the spec listed limits? Why is this a thing? because my current ram is a speed of 3000 and i wonder if there a way to utilize that full speed without damaging the system. I also wonder why this option is even available if overclocking isn't available.

I don't have much experience with B-motherboards.

If you have an X.M.P option, you can enable that and your memory should run at the full allowed speed.

those are pre-set speed from xmp profile, no guarantee of stable above your ram's & mobo rated speed
