these are bulletproof.

So in my home network, I have the router/modem upstairs, and an Ethernet cable going through the wall down to my room. I have a few devices that would benefit from ethernet, as I dont have enough usb network cards and if i bought enough, it would be just a lot of signals bouncing around.

Here is what I was thinking of what im wanting

Router/Modem -> Ethernet port (single outlet) -> desktop switch -> laptop/desktop/raspberry pi (Pi-Hole)/server (minecraft)

So i was wondering, should I just buy a 5 port switch, and fill all the ports up? or buy an 8 port, and have expansion for future. Also, I was wondering between managed and un-managed switches.

5 port managed switch, 3 year warranty

8 port managed switch, 3 year warranty

or should I go with the lifetime warranty equivalents?  the lifetime warranty ones are about 15$-30$ more expensive.

or what would you recommend?

The ones you have listed are managed swtiches. They have extra features like VLANS and things of that nature. If you dont need those extra features a non managed swtich would work fine.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Yes, all PROSAFE line has a higher MTBF compared to the SOHO versions and it has a lifetime hardware warranty that is why the price is a little different. Performance should be the same though they may have different hardware and chipsets.

Also stick with unmanaged.

oh hold on do you need managed or unmanaged?

I dont need one, but i heard the GUI for them was pretty decent and wanted some experience with them. But if I get into this IT job, i will have plenty of experience with them.

I would Reccomend a Ubiquity switch there Well maid and superb for home network

That's a $200 vs $30 switch comparison. For someone who doesn't need a managed switch, that's just wasteful spending.
