I don't know what laptop to get

Hi, I'm studying software engineering and I don't know what laptop to get. I'm looking for something that helps me with that and some casual gaming with the boys. I mostly work with C, Java, Python and HTML. 

Also, a $950 budget.

The refresh rate is not that big of a deal for me.

I'll appreciate the help.
