He mostly plays Rocket League and CS:GO. And Thanks for the keyboard suggestion. Definitely a big upgrade since he’s coming from a MacBook’s butterfly keyboard! He wants to try streaming, but it’s not a priority.

lol Rocket league and CS:GO but spending 4000$.
Sorry i dont mean to laugh but thats like at least 2500 wasted money...

(ps i bought a 995$ PC and i can use it to stream at 1080p 5000Kbps 60fps, jus sayin.)

If money isnt a problem, just buy what looks nice. Have some money left over for next year when its old hardware... ?

A friend of mine asked me for help to build a PC.... with a budget of $4,000! I have some idea of what to buy. But I thought I would ask the LTT community first. He wants components that will last since he’s not going to purchase the parts until late December. He’s looking for a PC mostly for gaming, but he is also into graphic design. Note that the $4,000 includes the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your friend is whoafully ignorant.  Rocket League and CS:Go on a $4000 machine?

He'll be fine with $1000 rig.

The x570 Aorus Ultra or Pro, Asus Strix F, TUF plus or Prime Pro, Asrock X570 Taichi or Phantom Gaming X are all solid choices.

With that budget, get a real monitor too.   1440p Ultrawide.

Corsair Virtuoso headphones.

Scrap that G910 from above, it's a clunky fat gamer keyboard.  I hate mine.  G502 is a nice mouse tho.

I like my G910 but as I said it's personnal preferences :P

And yes a UW 1440p would be even better.

Your comment makes no sense.  It's like saying I need a car to drive to work, I have a $500,000 budget.  Someone says a $100k car will do fine, and you say you have to spend the $500k!!!!

No logic there in any way shape or form.

You list needs, then you justify performance for what price.  You don't set a high bar and forcibly spend to reach it on things that are no benefit.

If I were them I would buy a 1080p 240hz monitor for esports games seeing as that's one of the things he likes to play and then a good second monitor that has a bigger resolution and would be good for more visually stunning games and graphic design. Also having two monitors is good for streaming as well.

IMO spending that much on a PC isn't a very smart decision.

He could easily spend $1,500 less and get the same experience.

Thanks for all the feedback. I totally understand that the budget is ridiculous for his use cases. I’ll recommend a lower price point, like $1500 - $2000. The money left over can go to more games, etc. There’s no need to break the bank for this. He know what he wants, not what he needs.
