It is a very high quality product, as all of Asus. If it suits your needs in terms of features and therefore is good for you, is for you to decide.

So the does the "Thermal Armor" make a difference?

It helps cool your mosfets but I don't think you would need a fan to cool it because the fans in your case would be able to cool it if you have good airflow. Heard that the small fans are loud but I think you would be able to control them using AI Suite 3.

The Z87 Sabertooth is really a great board and comes with an amazing 5-year warranty. Really you can't go wrong with it. The thermal armor though doesn't actually help to keep the board cool, it's mostly for aesthetics and to prevent dust build-up on the small components situated on the board.

The price diffrence... Also i does make a diffrence even tho it's like 2 degrees.

that's why I said it doesn't make a difference, the said difference is negligible

So those fans are crap, they seemed like a gimmick.

they are, they just make a bunch of noise and get dust where you don't want even though the point of the armor is to prevent dust from getting in.

Even if you install it in pull it will still make noise

I don't think I'm gonna waste my time with those cheap fans anyway.

The back-plate is a nice feature, any chance of it getting in the way when mounting big air coolers? Like the CRYORIG R1 Ultimate.

Just going to hijack this......I was deciding between the sabertooth and the maximus hero. I personally absolutely love any dust prevention feature so I like the the thermal shield and all the dust covers. How much better is the hero's onboard sound? Enough to pick that over the sabertooth?

Sabertooth and maximus are both meant for different applications. Sabertooth series is meant for stability and less for overclocking that doesn't mean you cannot overclock on it but the maximus is more flexible for overclocking and is purely meant for that.

Was what I was thinking. I won't OC, not in the beginning at least. I like the stability of the sabertooth.

The sabertooth isnt any different than their normal p8z87-v whatever it was. It just comes with armor and some stupid fans that are just useless. You don't need active cooling over the VRM on 1150/1155 because theyre very efficient cpu's but you do with 3930K's mainly under prime95. All lga1150 boards have the same overclocking potential, not sure if all boards come with LLC.

Sorry, but that is wrong. The sabertooth is build to last, hence the 5 year warranty. Look up any review of the board and you will see that ASUS spend on more reliable tech at every turn....stuff like 10K Black Metallic capacitors.

Will it perform better? Probably not, but to say its the same is just wrong.

I don't want to use the fans but it has dust covers for everything, the backplate and thermal shield is not BS. Also the thermal radar 2 should be really cool.

Because it has 5 years warranty doesnt mean its going to last longer really. Rog boards come with 3 years warranty and theyre made of much better quality than the sabertooth so the rog board isn't going to last long as the sabertooth? Pretty much counter-productive. They use the same VRM as their p8z77-v. Why wouldn't they perform the same? They're all within a margin of error; 1st run sabertooth leads 2nd run rog board leads 3rd run whatever board leads.

Yes it actually does mean that. Because if most of the cards lasted shorter than that, they would lose too much money.

And ROG boards does not much better quality than sabertooth. But they do use similar quality.

The TUF boards are BUILD for stability and tough conditions. For instant if you live in the middle east or arizona.

The sabertooth has only been put through tougher testing than rogs.

"Why wouldn't they perform the same?" - I just said that they did.

Longer warranty is just marketing. Rog boards are using more layers of PCB if im not mistaken. TUF is marketing as well the armor just protects the motherboard a bit thats all into it. If you live in 45° ambient temps or 25° it's not going to effect your vrm stability it might make a difference when using 3930K's at 5.2GHz etc. When gaming vrm sits at dunno 50-60° so add another 20° that's still much lower than the max. Another note an ambient of 45° would mean your minimum water temp is 45° so you're going to need some beasty fans to keep the watertemp below the max temp a pump (50°?) can handle and most likely you're going to have to lower the overclock.

No problem. Where do you have that PCB from? Im no disagreeing because I really don't know. Just never heard it before.
