i7-9700K only Running 150 FPS on CSGO

Hey Guys,

Im new here and I had some questions if anyone could help out, my set up is:

CPU: i7-9700K

GPU: RTX 2070

MOBO: MSI Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon AC

RAM: 32 GB of Corsair DDR4 3000 MHZ

When I upgraded my RAM from 16 to 32 Gb, it reset my windows back and didn't let me log into windows. It kept saying it couldn't troubleshoot it. I had to reinstall it, after I did I saw a significant drop in my FPS for some games.

CSGO went from 300 FPS to 150-180, GMod went from 110 FPS to 60-70, Minecraft went from 200-300 FPS to 100-140, etc. Im not quite sure what caused this, can anyone help out?

You did something else, as RAM sticks won't effect a WIndows install like that.  Did you mess with the BIOS at all?

It told me if I wanted to continue with default settings and I hit yes, not quite sure if that would've changed anything. I tried to turn on a-XMP but it didn't let me which is when it asked me to run in default settings. After that is when I had to reinstall windows and had the drop in performance.

I had 3200 MHZ of 16 GB and added some RGB 3000  Mhz corsair to make into 32 gb.

wait so you're mixing two different speeds? from what I understand when you more ram it should be the same speed, at least.

That might be why you can't use xmp lol

it's probably running like 2133 or some painfully slow speed without xmp

I am but I heard it just drops down to the slowest speed not drop all the performance, is there anywhere I could check it?

Even I cant spot the difference between 90 fps vs 144 fps

Not understanding this link between RAM and/or default BIOS settings and a Windows install forced on you.

Even running at 2133, you wouldn't have had a halving of FPS.  Maybe 5-10% loss, is all.

Im not sure either, I have an FPS counter and CSGO would run at 280+ FPS and now it sticks around 150 FPS, while with GMod I use to play with over +110 FPS and now it stays at 60, its weird, I didn't change any of the settings on it, I reinstalled windows and the game feels slow now, installed all the same drivers and everything, like before it basically got wiped. I don't play GMod anymore bc it drops FPS so much as well.

do you have a different cfg for csgo? I used to have an issue when I used different accounts, I thought I had the same settings but I really didn't until I copied the files from one userdata steam file to the other.

I don't believe so, when I had to reinstall windows I deleted the file that was on my local drive that was named,"windows old."

Did you reinstall motherboard chipset driver and GPU drivers? A good way to tell if proper drivers are missing is to inspect dev manager and look for yellow icons. Even if you don't see yellow icons, Windows does tend to install drivers for you. Some of their drivers arent very good.
