You can't make a x1 slot run at x16 bandwidth. You can only make it physically bigger with such a cable. And yes, they exist as they were used by the crypto miners not that long ago.

 

Just look around for PCIe x1 to PCIe x16 riser.

Exactly, it will run at 1X speeds and you will NEVER get 16x speeds.

It will run at 1x, physical limitation

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Some motherboards don't provide enough power to pci-e x1 slots - they're only required to provide 10 watts.

For bigger slots, the limits are 25w and 75w (for video cards)

 

The risers which have separate power connector simply allow you to "boost" the power in case the motherboard doesn't give enough power by default.

It makes it possible to use a video card in a pci-e x1, without BIOS complaining about "power limits exceeded" or fuses tripping on the motherboard.

 

The data part of the connector remains x1, so anything plugged in the x16 slot you created will still function at pci-e x1 speeds.
