ups shipping :/

So I've recently made it move from Boston,Ma down to Miami,Fl and in doing so i shipped a lot of my belongings through ups without any second thoughts.. but with my anxiety and constant over thinking all I've been googling for the past three days is ups gaming pc horror stories..

 

so i bought a prebuilt with aspirations to customize it which went well started with a 1660 upgraded to 2080 installed liquid cooling the whole shabang i also kept the OG Box and Styrofoam fitting for the build and shipped it in that without a 2nd layer box and popcorn foam inside so on a scale 1/10 how snapped is my graphics card.. 

 

edit has anyone shipped via ups and have had positive luck?

Ive had better success with packages coming less damaged with UPS myself than with FedEx.

gives me some hope because online it seems fedex is the lesser of two evils and was kinda kicking myself down for not using fedex but that just gave me some hope

my family has used ups for a long time, we haven't had any incidents

No incidents with UPS myself and generally they are the go to for prebuilt distributors to ship through, did you tell UPS before hand how delicately it needed be handled and was the packaging clearly labeled fragile and this side up so that it is kept in the right orientation during shipping?

 

When I moved I had the packaging for mine clearly labeled and shipped the system and my 1080ti FTW3 I had at the time separately for that reason.

so i didn't tell them how delicate but the gentlemen who assisted me at the local ups store seemed pretty knowledgeable about PCs so i'm assuming he should've done it but i wont hold my breathe. but it was with all the og packages , eg og box, og foam , og bag cover and thats exactly how i shipped it out is how i received it from purchase date

You said you did custom liquid cooling? Just making sure you shipped it empty. Pretty standard but you never know.

Ok haha just making sure. Honestly sounds to me like you shipped it the best you could. I personally wouldn't think about, I know it's probably hard to not, but just look at it positively and just keep an open mind until it shows up, I would video tape yourself receiving it from the driver if possible and then also video yourself opening it so if something is broken you can submit a claim and hopefully get it covered through UPS.

i shipped it exactly how i received it their was no inside filling when recieved so i didn't feel the need too but now looking back i really should have

Is the GPU water cooled as well? If it is it'll be a lot lighter than an air cooled card so there's a chance it might not come loose

The thing you, and anyone else who ships something like a computer needs to realize is that it's not the company that causes the damage, it's the individual. This individual can work at any shipping company. No company has policies that state they should damage your package, or treat it poorly.

 

It's entirely up to you to make sure that your package is properly secure. This includes any kind of misfortune it may encounter along the way. If you don't take the time to make sure the package is properly prepared, you have no one to blame but yourself for any damage incurred. On top of that, if it's not properly insured for the full value, that again is entirely on you. 

 

It sounds like you did a decent job of packing it. The video card won't be too heavy since it doesn't have the stock heatsink on it. If it did, you definitely should have used expanding packaging to secure it in place. Honestly bubble wrap probably would have been better, as peanuts still have give for movement.

You insured the shipment, correct?

 

In any case, odds are you're fine - but in the future, always uninstall the graphics card and ship it separately (or at least separately inside the same large box).

Hey everyone who was curious my shipment came in today and i must say everything came in perfect condition even without filling inside the only thing i noticed was some wires popped out but it was an easy tuck job other then than its perfect i appreciate everyone's support!
