CPU Temperature

Not sure if this is the right place to post. If not, moderators please direct this to the right place.

 

Hi guys, I have a question about my CPU temperature, I am quite worried about it actually. So to start off,

I have a i5-2500k CPU. 

My case is a Cooler master MB520 RGB (3 front fans, 1 back fan) plus I installed another fan on the top.

when I go into my BIOS and go into “PC health”, it states that my CPU temperature is 87 degrees Celsius. So I decided to download CPUID hardware monitor, and when idle, the temperature is around 58~65 degrees.

I launched Firefox and went to YouTube to watch a video, 720p. Then that’s when this happened.

Is this normal for my CPU just watching a YouTube video?

 

I was thinking of getting a CPU fan and reapply thermal paste on my CPU. Do you guys think it’s a good idea? I don’t want to get a CPU fan and in the end, it stays the same.

No, that's high.

What cpu cooler are you using? Are you sure it's properly installed and not loose?

I am using the stock intel cooler that came with the processor. The model is E97379 (I think)

Check that the fans in the system are spinning. Make sure that the plastic pins aren't loose. They should be rotated clockwise in the locked position. You should be able to see the black plastic pins pushed through and the white retention clips separated at the back of the motherboard.

maybe the thermal paste dried up? Normal if it's still on paste that came with the cooler.

A thorough clean with paste replacement should help. And maybe replacing the cooler with something better, at least the cheap Snowman CPU cooler from Aliexpress.

While this probably isn't issue, I'd like to see your volts. The reason why it probably isn't reason is that you have Sandy, and voltage issues started with DC.
