3900x on a B450 TOMAHAWK???

it's possible, but make sure you have the 2600 around for troubleshooting.

Obviously overclocking would be out of the picture, I was just wondering if it would be possible.

 

(I want some sort of upgrade path from the b450 tomahawk and 2600 combo)

Not necessarily, the tomahawk actually has a decent VRM. What cooler were you planning on using ?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

This is future talk, I just got my 2600 like 3 weeks ago. If I were to guess, probably some noctua cooler

 

I really haven't given it much thought due to my next upgrade being in like three years (possibly a little bit sooner depending on how next gen console games treat the 2600)

 

I'm currently using the stock Wraith Stealth. if you have a suggestion for a cooler that will also be good for the 3900x, I'm all ears (I might pick one up this Christmas to use for my next CPU, along with a 1tb SSD for games)
