My internet speed is so low

Liamisko123

hey guys i just found out that my internet speed is wayyyy smaller than it should be. I'm paying for 300megabits/s. But i only have this much https://www.speedtest.net/result/8611757836 . Does anybody know what is the problem. Is there any way that there might be an issue with my router ? (im using optic cable.., and also the measured speeds are not thru wifi but cable as well)

That seems to be a network switch. We need to know what modem or gateway you have. What type of internet do you have, maybe we can help you narrow it down.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

The Asus FX box is 100Mbps only, you'll need a gigabit switch for that. Additionally, the router (black box) we'll need the model of as well to make sure that's got gigabit ports

Yah, the router is 1.0Gbps ports

the white box might be the ISP provided router?

try a different ethernet cable? make sure there are 8 conductors

what is your test computer connected to? the switch that is 100mbps then that is your limitation. you also need to disable wifi and only have 1 device connected.

Do you know if your ISP provided modem/router is a Access-Point/Modem/Switch combo unit? If so that could be causing a bottleneck in trying to reach full potential to deliver speeds of whatever you are trying to reach

Ok, ok, first are you using the router from your ISP? How if your device connected to your router? Wifi? Ethernet? If it is ethernet, older computers sometimes can only handle slower internet speeds, this can be fixed by buying a $15 gigabit network card, or if your PC has USB 3 use a Ethernet to USB adapter maybe. If it is WiFi, use Netgear's wifi analytics app or something similar to see if your router is broadcasting to the same channel as your neighbors. Its like if I'm talking to my dad and my sister walks in to the room yelling and o can barely hear my dad.

Also some devices have slow wifi

Anyway, please give us details, and we can help. Sometimes calling your ISP they can help with this, but they might just waste time and sell you stuff.
