Switching Windows Versions?

Go to solution Solved by NunoLava1998,

You literally just put your Home license key in and it downgrades you.

I've done this shit before

When I first built my PC, I selected Windows 10 Pro as the version I wanted my computer to run on. I didn't have a license at the time, and I also hadn't looked into the pricing. I'd like to get a legitimate version of Windows, as the OEM keys seem super sketchy. Windows 10 Pro is almost $100 more than the Home version, and I don't need any of the extras in Pro. How would I change my Windows version from Pro to Home? Or can I just enter a Home license when I get one and it will just switch it for me?

There are some work arounds people have come up with to downgrade from Pro to Home. But it requires a bit of time and patience and isn't guaranteed to work. Just do a reinstall, you'll save yourself the massive headache. Considering you were running Windows without a license, you didn't get too far.

I have run across issues where the original key was an OEM, and it wouldn't let you up/down/grade to a retail version of something else, but this could have been vendor specific issue.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Perfect, thanks! I wasn't sure if that would work.
