Hi all, does the CPU affect the score a GPU get in a dedicated GPU benchmark? for example, userbenchmark and unigine superposition?

Userbenchmark is rubbish, don’t pay attention to those results

but what about the unigine superposition bench? problem is i have an rtx 2070 super and am getting way lower benchmarks than people with the same card. Mine is closer in performance to a non super rtx 2070. its driving me nuts i dont know if i got scammed or something.

Yes, even a synthetic load meant 100% to the GPU will require the CPU to do some sort of work, in some cases it will be minimal but still present.

Anything trying to replicate gaming like workloads, like Superposition, or 3DMark, will be CPU dependant to some degree. If you look at the top benchmark results, they use fast CPUs.

How does it perform in games?

i only have monster hunter world currently installed and after gaming for around 5 minutes i averaged 103 fps on ultra 1080p. it would sometimes dip as low as 70 fps though. my cpu temperatures are at around 77 celsius with 40 percent load and my gpu was 60 at 98.

Doesn’t seem wrong to me load% and temp wise.. not familiar with that game in particular.

You expecting higher fps?

I dont really know about monster hunter but cs go and dota 2 arent performing as expected. I checked msi afterburner and it says my speed is clocked at 1605. Is it safe to say that there is nothing wrong with my cpu given the clock speed?

am new to pcs so i dont exactly know i just read the core clock and its at 1605. i can probably raise it from the bar in msi afterburner but am worried this might overclock it(i dont want to overclock right now as my system doesnt have very good ventilation or temps) should i try raising it or would that be overclocking?

it's not like we're on consoles or anything, we can set different settings, maybe your friend uses different settings or the games use a frame cap (i know for sure cs go does have one)

Problem is i made sure we used the same settings and removed the frame cap. I uodated all the drivers and everything to no avail
