Is the dark base 900 rev.2 a good case for silent cooling

Hi im looking to make a build soon and i was wondering is the dark base 900 rev 2 and good air cooling case, im planning on using the dark rock pro 4 with 3700x

DB900 is a good case, and this thread could go in Air Cooling or Cases and Power Supplies really, both work.

Dark Base 900 Rev 2 does pretty decently, it's not the best but there are plenty worse cases on the markety, most of which are not silence focused.

 

I pointed a few times to the original 900, as they've improved the airflow a bit, have the fans on a more aggressive fan setting by default, and some other minor tweaks to the case.

Ok thx yeah that high cpu temp is what worries me somewhat. But dark rock pro4 is a very beefy cooler and adding a fan extra fan could help with air flow.

It comes with 3 by default, which is honestly the ideal number for performance to noise ratio. Beyond that you start to get diminishing airflow returns for more noise.

I'm in the Define R6, which GN has within margin of error to yours, as well as a Dark Rock Pro 4. My 8600k is comfortable running 5GHz at 1.4v. You shouldn't worry about CPU temps

Yeah since iv never built a pc before thats true.

That im going for a silent build. The only reason im worring about air flow is a i got a great pyrenees and a another dog and if you dont know about great pyrenees they have 2 layers of fur so those filters gonna get filled quick.

I have 3 dogs, and a bird, I know exactly what you're talking about. Clean your filters often and you will be more than fine. I clean mine every 4 or 6 months.

Yeah its tough. Im debating where to put the pc once I get the parts. I have been debating between a dark rock pro4, and a 280mm rad like one from corsair or nzxt but ik that CAM is trash.

You'll be much better off with an air cooler, it's far harder to clean out a radiator than it is a tower cooler. As for placement, desk is preferred, or off the ground somehow if desk is not possible (may not be with the DB900, it's a big case). 

 

May I ask why you're using the DB900 in particular? Do you need an ATX full tower like that, or is a mid tower fine?

Im using it for the modularity and because im using a crosshair viii hero. *and because the sound proofing*

All very fair reasons. If it doesn't fit on your desk just keep it a good bit off the ground. Be aware the closer it is to dog height, the more dust it will pick up.

Have you seen a great pyrenees? They are big doggo. I might a place or 2 to put it on my desk.

The Define R6 can easily fit on a desk, and hold E-ATX motherboards.
