note 10 headphone jack

TheBean
Go to solution Solved by dizmo,

The pen would have to be huge to fit a headphone jack into it. You'd also have to find another way to remove it, as you wouldn't be able to have the clicky action that it does now. It's just a very poor idea all around. I imagine most people that are buying a Note also have the means to buy wireless headphones, so I don't see the removal as that big of an issue. On top of that, most places get free wireless headphones if you preorder the device.

Wired headphones are on their way out as far as phones go; it's just something people are going to have to get used to.

Wireless is the way its going and there is nothing wrong with that, there is nothing more convenient than being able to free yourself of wires on the move. If you're going to make the argument about wired sound-quality then you start dipping into the market for high-fidelity portable music players, which will all still support wired inputs until music technology allows true lossless audio quality over Bluetooth.

This is getting closer and closer with technologies like LDAC bringing it pretty close though.

There's a difference between having decent sound, and the shit quality of AirPods. You don't have to go all the way up to a HiFi level to see the difference.

why dont samsung put the the headphone jack onto the bottom of the pen? while the pen is docked it would act as a regular headphone port. when you take the pen out, it could turn your wirred headphones into wireless ones as the pen connects via bluetooth.

Would make the pen to big and and still dont get why removing stuff is innovation >_>

Because they want to sell more wireless headphones, simple as that.  You can't even make the argument it's just to save space or it's unnecessary because they didn't even include a dongle in the box.  It's no longer that they don't want you plugging directly into the phone, they don't want you using normal headphones at all.

They've had my attention as well, but between a very confusing lineup and naming scheme, regional differences in availability, and pricing that's more inline with "North American" phones (that are still Asian also but you know what I mean I hope lol), rather than the Xiaomi, Huawei, etc. Mid-tiers that have becoming ever more popular, I could never find one that felt right.

Ironically my Nokia 8 was indeed purchased outside the country by a co-worker who just a month later got an iPhone 7 or 8 I'm not sure so he sold it to me at a discount, I consider myself quite lucky xD'

Go back 10 years EVERYWHERE you looked in Brazil you'd see old school Nokias... now they are a rarity.

I still do stand that their models are really solid but sadly distribution is all over the place.

To be fair, I've never understood why people have such a problem with companies removing the headphone jack from their products, AirPods have a 60% global market share of wireless earbud sales (which included offerings from Jabra, Sony, Samsung and Xiaomi).

If you're going to make the argument about wired sound-quality then you start dipping into the market for high-fidelity portable music players, which will all still support wired inputs until music technology allows true lossless audio quality over Bluetooth.

This is getting closer and closer with technologies like LDAC bringing it pretty close though.

Because I don't want to have to carry a separate music device around. Been there, done that.

There's two problems with this though:

  1. They're not mutually exclusive.  You can use wireless whenever you want, it doesn't require removing the headphone jack to gain this ability, so the existence of the wireless option isn't actually a reason to remove it.
  2. Plugging in a wire is actually more convenient.  No pairing, no batteries to charge, and going beyond that, no connectivity issues, lower cost, you probably already have one or more wired sets of earbuds or headphones anyway, and yes, quality.  I've heard all the claims that bluetooth is virtually indistinguishable for most people at this point but I've never experienced it myself - always ends up sounding quite noticeably different, even beyond arguments of quality, it sounds like it's just EQed differently.  Excessive or absent bass, etc.
