SSD not detected on windows 10 installation

This is a follow up post to my original one about windows 10: 

 

 

I think the problem is in the ssd. Does windows need a ssd driver for a successful installation? keep in mind that the ssd is an oem ssd, and originally, there was no problmes.

Does it show up in Bios? It doesnt need drivers to install windows.

in the windows installer try this

 

SHIFT+F10 to open command prompt

 

Type "diskpart"

 

Type "list disk" see if the ssd showes up there. If so Continue

 

Type " select disk [disk number]"  So from above its disk 1 replace disk number with 1 without brackets.

 

Type "clean all" and Enter to wipe all data

 

When that process is complete, type "exit" to go back to Windows Setup screen and see if the drive appears.

Also in the BIOS make sure SATA is set to AHCI mode. Also If you have Secure Boot make sure that is enabled as well.

Don't create the partition in command line let Windows installer do that creating the partition can cause issues with where the MBR gets stored its best to let the installer do it. Clean or clean all both work just as well.

 

Running the commands in the post should result in showing Drive ? unallocated space in the installer assuming you have everything else set correctly.

Thanks soo much buddy... it turns out that I disabled Secure boot and set the SATA mode o Intel RST Premium.... something learnt. Thanks!!
