How to pick CPU Cooler with fitting mounting

I can't figure out what am doing wrong
I got a "Cooler Master Hyper T20" for this motherboard "x58 sli classified" with and ‎Intel Socket 1366 the Cooler is too small, the mounting holes are spread further.

I measured the cooler mounting holes are 75mm apart.

I thought the cooler state it matches Socket 1366 and I am good to go. What am I doing wrong how can I pick a fitting cooler?

Do you have the user manual?

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Not for the mobo, but for the cooler. Though looking pics, it should come with different push-pin brackets to which you attach cooler.

There isn't any variations of push-in pins or the bracket or a way's to adjust the distance on the bracket.

I noticed that in the there isn't any mention of socket1366 in the user manual, only on the box.

Did the motherboard come with a bracket? The reviews on amazon mention that as needed for this cooler on 1366. https://www.amazon.in/Cooler-Master-Hyper-T20-RR-T20-20FK-R1/dp/B07NGRQX1V#customerReviews

Ah, ok I see ok, my board does not come with and an extra bracket.
I guess the fan just doesn't have the right fitting specification, I'll just get another one.

My concern was really am I choosing the coolers correctly,
To match choose fitting fan I got to see the specs show my socket version... and clearance in the case of course.

Thank you! Now I know I was doing it right, though shall not lose faith in own ability.

If you would like cooler recommendations, let us know what cpu, ram, and case you're using, budget, and where you're shopping / located.

I'm in Singapore,
intel I7-920
ram is 1x8gb-1600
2xGTX970 (SLI)
X58 SLI Motherboard
[Starting to show signs of end of life]
PSU SSR-850FX
The case, I am not sure of the model but it's big, looks like it is this one
https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/cases/full-tower/haf-932/

I am actually restoring a desktop I had in storage for some time.
I am switching out parts as time goes. GPU power is still enough, my bottleneck is the CPU, so I want to overclock but I need better cooling.

Budget is flexible as I want to switch out my motherboard and CPU in about 12-18 months time,
I can get something below $50 and use it for a year or do you think it makes sense I can get something I can reuse for my upgrade then $100 - $200 is fine.
