Windows Reinstall with R5 2600

Hey guys! Would I need to reinstall windows 10 if I am upgrading from a FX6300 to a R5 2600? Or can I just put the SSD in the new PC and use it just like that?

You should reinstall to avoid any weird conflicts with old drivers and such

I'd reinstall to be safe.  At best, Windows will ask to be reactivated.  At worst, your drive is trying to load up a lot of old motherboard and chipset drivers and crashing.

So, If I run a driver uninstall program, would it be ok?

Fresh install always better.

My windows was never activated. I never used a product key.

That'll work for GPU drivers, but not sure of one that does it for chipset ones.

No, don't use those. For the majority they're all pretty touch and go.

 

Just reinstall windows

I always try to run the OS first, and if it didn't work then i try to reset, if not working then i fresh install.

Because, why not? You'll endup with a fresh windows anyway if you reinstall.

Just make sure you backup important files.

I migrated my SSD from X58 to R5 3600x and it worked fine. Microsoft will not reactivate my system because too much hardware has changed. I guess CPU/RAM/Mobo is a new machine really.

For your key: download a program like ProduKey, take a picture of the shown keys, and just fill them in again after reinstalling/whateveryouendupdoing, this generally works just fine.

It's completely legal. You're just reusing the code you've been using when you get a new SSD, cpu&mobo, or whatever. If it wouldn't be legal, Windows wouldn't accept the key as being acceptable.

Just the way I read it, didn’t know it would show the keys of your current windows install

Doesn't matter. Mine was an OEM Win 7 upgrade. Not transferrable and linked to  a system already.

 

If you have a retail key then you shouldn't have a problem though.

Ah, yesh, sorry, could've been more clear, but I've done this so often that it's routine for me.

That should work too, I believe! I even got Office 2010 to transfer like this from Windows 7 to a reinstall on a new SSD on Windows 10.

UPDATE - I installed my R5 2600 and all I did was plug in my SSD and it booted right up into Windows. Thanks guys!!

If you have trouble activating W10 I went to eBay and bought an OEM W10 Pro key for $4.

these arent legal either but i got one for £2 as well

If they were illegal Microsoft wouldn't allow it. System integraters sell OEM keys they bought in bulk to mitigate losses on excess stock.
