Does it make a difference which number a drive is assigned?

Unless the SSDs are connected to SATA2 ports, it makes no difference.

I got 4 drives in my system, 2 ssds one of which being the boot drive and 2 hard drives (and a dvd drive) all connected via sata but when i first installed the drives i didn´t really paid attention to which port which drive is plugged into. I assume that the assigned numbers represent the sata port but does it matter in which port a drive is plugged in aside from the order in which they are listed in the task manager?
