Is 16:9 better than 21:9?

I love immersive style of gaming but do the majority of games support 21:9? Or is it better to stick with 16:9

Almost any game will support any ratio with a bit of work.

Almost all recent games support 21:9.

 

It's a more immersive gaming resolution for me, but are you asking because you're looking for an Ultrawide monitor? Or want to run 21:9 on your current 16:9 monitor?

Any modern games support any resolution.

3 monitors gaming been around for decades, it is essentially 1 monitor resolution times 3.

 

Now, with higher resolution comes the performance penalty.

You'll get less FPS on the wider one.

For me there's 3 main things that make me love my 21:9 1440p Ultrawide:

1. The productivity increase is incredible. It really makes a huge difference

2. The FOV is more immersive in games.

3. smoother than 1080p but easier to drive than 4K

I have no idea what you're saying

 

Do you mean which one I ended up choosing? I don't know yet, but the X34P seems to tick most of my boxes and I can still afford it  the X35P is worse than the AOC and more expensive, so I'd rather go with the AOC than the X35P

16:10 is the closest to the golden ratio and there for the best aspect ratio for a monitor.

Almost every modern game will support 21:9 out of the box. Some games might require some fiddling with the launcher or in case of Witcher 3, for example, you have to change some numbers in .exe using Hex Editor to fix dialogue scenes as they are rendered in 16:9 for some reason. 

 

But in general, 21:9 is superior to 16:9 in almost every way.

Depends what you're into and all. For me I like 16:9 more especially competitive fps games.
