DirectX versions

hey,

so i have a problem with a game- they tell me to check my DirectX version.

i read windows 8.1 comes with 11.2 - ive installed all updates, important and otherwise.

my sys information shows 11.0

my graphics card supports 12.

what gives? does the .2 not show up and i can assume i do in fact have 11.2?

Any particular reason why you need 11.2 or you just want it for the sake of it? usually when you install a game that requires it to run it will prompt you the option to update the DirectX and what not.

let's say that this game company's support is lazy.....leterally they're lazy and this is the troubleshooting they got me doing.

that's reason why. they ask me if i have the version 11.2, so im trying to eliminate all the stupid sh*t they throw at me, to try and get them to fix the game.

any idea on the versioning issue?

DX12 requires Windows 10. You can check your version with dxdiag.

As per Microsoft own words:

DirectX 11.2 is included with Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2. There is no standalone update package for DirectX 11.2. This version of DirectX can only be installed through Windows Update on Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 operating systems.

That means there is not a stand alone method to get the 11.2 version, the only way around is to keep trying to get Windows Update to get it for you... all in all this is understandable frustration on the regards nobody cares to Windows 8 and simply expect you to be on Windows 10 with full DX12 support.
