Share your bandwidth when your not using it?

Found this article on wired:

Scheme named BeWifi would let you share your bandwidth with neighbours when your not using it. Would be awesome to use this if you didn't need additional hardware.

Lots of places just don't invest in infrastructure so we're stuck with terrible conections.

I'm guessing it would be an opt in thing, and lots of people just wouldn't bother.

In Belgium we have this for quit a time where your wifi router is a hotspot to others where the others can log in if they have the same provider and you don't have to pay for that. :)

i always wanted to share my net (no pass)

but im afraid of people hacking (ease dropping)

i know Https is secure but what about everything else

 

EDIT

the video shown lists problems that can be solved with QoS
