Apparently my Ryzen 5 2600 is performing below expectations

According to user benchmark, my ryzen 5 2600 is performing below expectations:

I don't understand, as previously it was in the 70th percentile.

Looks alright to me, userbenchmark compares your CPU scores to the every single one else, some people get better overclocks on better hardware (mobo/cooling) and less bloated OS etc... can't take what it says too literally.

It seems to have got worse performance over time...
Maybe because I have more software running / run the cpu fan at a lower speed so its not as audible

No, everyone else is getting better. If a lot of people switch from an Ivy Bridge or AMD FX to a Coffee Lake i5 or Ryzen, then everyone else gets better and your PC is worse in comparison.

That's not how the comparison works on userbenchmark. It's compared to other uses with that same hardware.

Oh I see. Well people still overclock, idk if GPU is taken into account

@tukars

share your bios setups on gpu voltages, states, cooling fan rpm-s and clock speeds. Perhaps we'd be able to come up with a better setting.

Are you running dual channel memory kit with high frequency? Using stock wraith stealth cooler?

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

I will try to reply tommorow with more detail when I can get onto my pc, my pcu is at 1.295 volts I think, and I'm using the stock wraith stealth cool thats runs 1500 rpm on idle, cpu at 45C, maybe it is the quiet fan curve I have in place which is causing thermal throttling decreasing performance?

Use HWInfo > Sensors Only (checkbox on startup) in the background while you game/use your PC to see what's happening..

Not sure exactly what happened, went in to the bios and made a few changes, edited some software a little and now it is performing in the 73rd percentile (where it was before)

Userbenchmark is garbage. FWIW you are within range for your CPU. Others are overclocking or have better cooling. Methinks your expectations are the problem.

3000/3200mhz is the sweet spot for 2nd gen ryzen cpu’s. Not sure how that affects those benchmarks from that website, but in general use it will be much faster

Just to give you an idea, i have a 2400G with 3000mhz RAM, i make about 700 point on Cinebench with everything set to auto, I tuned everything to max stable settings and i get 845 points. Auto settings with stock cooler do weird things and set everything to the most stable thing available.

Edit: RAM speed is what affect the most those Ryzen CPUs, make it as fast as you can while being stable under heavy loads. As previously mentionned, 3000-3200mhz is the sweet spot and does not scale with higher clock speed.

Main System: Ryzen 2700, Asus Crosshair VII Hero, EVGA GTX 1080ti SC, 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL14, CM H500, CM ML240L cpu cooler.

Second System: Ryzen 2400G, Gigabyte B450 DS3H, RX 580 Nitro+, Kingston A400 SSD, Team T-Force 3200mhz CL15

If it ain't overclocked it ain't good...

Not the point, I previously benched it and its gone down in performance since then

I know not the point, but still thought to inform you about it ?.

Does everything work tho as it did when you first build it? If so, nothing to worry about
