High temperature

I have an I5-8400 from intel, it has 6 cores and a max turbo of 4.00Ghz. I use the Intel stock cooler and it doesn't perform well.

When my cpu is at 79% of its full potential at 3.80Ghz the maximum temperature is 97C.

It runs idel at around 40C.

Does anyone know what's going on, and would it perform way better if I would buy the Bequiet pure rock slim, because that is an option I am looking at.

Have you tried changing the thermal paste?

It's throttling, but Intel cooler should be able to handle a non-k CPU.

No, I didn't, I used the included thermal paste.

if your cpu is throtteling you will get better performance with the beQuiet! cooler.
But if it's not throtteling you will only bet lower temps and not more performance because you cpu has a locked multiplier

97C, you're hitting a thermal wall. Intel's stock cooler is pretty meh, you can get a relatively cheap air cooler like a Dark Rock Pro 4 (from beQuiet!) or the Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo and it should give you much better thermals

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600  Heatsink: ID-Cooling Frostflow X GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 Mini 6GB RAM: KLEVV Bolt 3600Mhz (2x8GB) Mobo: ASUS B550-F ROG Strix (Wifi)  Case: Fractal Design Meshify C PSU: Deepcool DQ-M-V2L

You probably need a new cooler. There are tons of coolers that are cheap and provide great cooling solutions.

If you want to go a bit higher and sped 100+ on a cooler then NZXT, be quiet!, ASUS etc all have amazing coolers

The cpu is on 79% in the picture, does your comment mean that it could go higher with a better cooler?
