I need a s*** load of storage.

I need like a shit load of storage in my PC. I am a horrible data hoarder and I have a lot of games and stuff soo, yeah. What would be the best bang for the buck? I want something that is still fairly fast but very reliable.

Best bang for buck?

LTO-7

At ~£100 per cartridge and 6.25TB of storage each you cant beat them in £/GB really.  Yes there is the matter of a £1800 drive, but it is infinitely expandable, until you run out shelf space.

In all seriousness though, while 14TB hdd are great their value per GB is poor in comparison to the 10TB drives, that's where the sweet spot is at the moment.

But 10TB isn't really a "$#!¥load" of storage, and if you need a lot of them you're likely going to want a SATA/SAS controller as well.  Or a NAS or similar.

I thought about making a NAS I have a spare pc just sitting on a shelf... I was planning on like 100Tb but I'm a bit poor to do that much at the moment lol.

If you are looking for fast drives that are generally reliable for games and stuff, I would recommend WD black Drives. If you care a ton about your data get wd reds. I personally would not recommend running a steam library or anything like that off of a nas as it can be very buggy. Good piece of advise as well... Delete ur sh*t that you aren't using. clear out your downloads, old documents, and games you don't use anymore. You can always reinstall games. if you must, get some pcie sata controllers and get one of fractal design's cases that houses an ungodly amount of hard drives. http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/define-series/define-r6-usb-c

That is one of my favorite define cases.

Build:

Intel Core I7 6700k (clocked to 4.6ghz)

Patriot Viper 3000mhz ddr4

ASUS maximus 8 hero (I hate this mobo)

Evga gtx 1080 superclocked

250GB Samsung 850 evo

2tb WD Black 7200rpm

Ek watercooling kit a240g with 360 expansion pack

Primochill Vue Red fluid

Corsair Graphite 600t (white)

You thought "Gee, Donald Trump sure has a great build!"

Consider building an unRAID server with your pre-built fill it with as many drives that you can currently afford as unRAID is expandable so later if you add say 4TB you get 4TB of additional raw storage and no re-configuring required just add the drive/s add go its lightweight booting from a usb stick then running from ram you can run dockers and even run a few VM's if your into that sort of thing

See that's the thing. I need to keep a lot of stuff lol. I do video editing and photoshop. Also one of my goals is to be able to have my entire steam library installed at once. I ma in dire need of a new case tho. This one has seen like 4 builds and it's not quite big enough. I literally have to bend the side panel to make it go on lol.

Edit: Also I still use optical drives so if you know of a case like the one you recommended but with optical bays that would be nice.
