Evga question

Hey guys,

I've noticed in my threads and the ones I comment, Evga psus are looked down upon frequently. But on techtuber channels, I see them saying they love Evga, and it's reliability and blah blah blah. Can someone explain to me what is going on here? Like, are only a few Evga psus good? Whats up with this?

Every company is going to have products up the full stack, from downright awful and should never exist, to the top tier gold standard of the industry. EVGA is no different when it comes to there PSUs which are just rebranded units from an OEM. This thread here ranks all PSUs based on there quality of components and protections as tested by independent sources to gather the information from.

My G2 is great, runs quiet and has proper protections etc etc. but they messed up the protections on the G3 so it's more expensive than it's worth, so when people recommend high end PSUs the G3 is left out, and the G2 is too expensive now so it's left out too, in favor of Corsair's RMX, the Bitfenix Whisper and Formula Gold, and Seasonic Prime units. Their bronze units are outclassed by Corsair's CX and CXM line, which are not much more expensive, so they're commonly used for budget lists.

They're flooding the market with lots of series that have various levels of quality from absolute shit to almost perfect.

If i say "evga is great" someone may say "cool, i'll go and buy this evga psu that's on sale for $24.99"

EVGA is a brand that makes several different series of PSUs.  If anyone blanket "loves EVGA" then they simply do not realize this and probably don't know anything about power supplies.

I looked at this already, but I only saw a few Evga psus on There. Are those the only good ones?

I recommend you look at it again. It has EVGA PSUs everywhere.

As well as a number of other brands that have PSUs just as good or better than EVGA.

 

Unless you're doing an "EVGA themed" build with an EVGA board and graphics card in an EVGA case. Then I understand the unwavering fascination with EVGA.

Only thing I don’t like are the horrid ribbon cables. But a lot of companies adopted that. Would put them in my top psu companies to buy from. Not like there are many on that list.

techtubers don't know any better and they know that their main audience doesn't know any better so they usually blindly recommend evga/seasonic, even the trash ones like most b-series and s12ii etc. knowing that they don't have to do any research to get views
