6th Gen I7 with 8th Gen Board?

Soooooo, lga 1151 boards that are for 6th/7th gen cpus are expensive right now, probably cause stock is low. Since 8th gen mobos are cheap and available I was curious if that my i7 6700 would be able to be ran in one. I know that 8th gen cpus aren't compatible with 6th gen boards.

Not normally, no.

 

There's probably custom bios that will make it work, though.

 

How you do that I can't be sure

It doesn't work without some modding. Don't bother, what's your current motherboard?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

No, there is no official Way for that, LGA1151 for 6/7k and 8/9k are not compatible, normally.

There might be a way but you need a new CPU for that anyway to flash the BIOS. And for your 6700K, you can get somewhere around 200€ or so for that.

 

However, there was just a big announcement on Computex...

So you might  get proof that the CPU works and sell it as long as you can get a good price for it.

Get something used. There's really no need to buy something new if you're buying older hardware.
