Which m.2 slot to use without disabling the pci slot?

I want to know that in which m.2 slot can I put my nvme ssd? Slot 1 or slot 2? It is mentioned that if I use m.2 slot it will disable one pci slot next to it. It is very confusing which one will be disabled? I am using gpu in slot 1. And m.2 1 has heatsink on it. Can I use the 1st one or will I have to use m.2 2nd slot?

http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_x470-aorus-ultra-gaming_1001_e_180704.pdf

page 6:

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)

* The PCIEX4 slot shares bandwidth with the M2B_SOCKET connector. The PCIEX4 slot becomes unavailable when a device is installed in the M2B_SOCKET connector.

1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe 3.0 x4 (Note 2)/x2 SSD support) (M2A_SOCKET)

1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280 PCIe 2.0 x4/x2 SSD support) (M2B_SOCKET)

page 17 The M2B_SOCKET connector supports only PCIe SSDs.

page 4 : see label PCIEX4 on bottom most pci-e x16 slot (which is electrically x4)

so top m.2 - sata or nvme pci-e 3 x4 (4 x 970 MB/s) from cpu

bottom m.2 - nvme pci-e 2 x4 or x2 ( 2-4 x 500MB/s) , no sata. If installed, bottom pci-e x16 is disabled.

Sorry but that is lot for my tiny brain lol. Can you simplify it please. Should I use m2a_socket if I am running top pciex16?

did i say anything about first m.2? does it say anything in the mentioned pages? did you even open manual?

The cpu has 24 pci-e lanes.

* 16 are reserved for video. All 16 go to top x16 slot. If you insert a card in 2nd x16 slot, the two x16 slots from the top become x8 each

* 4 go to top m.2 connector

* 4 go to chipset (to create link between cpu and chipset)

chipset creates 8 pci-e 2.0 lanes (which are half the speed of regular pci-e 3 lanes)

out of those 8, 4 go to third pci-e x16 slot. If you insert nvme ssd on bottom m.2, those 4 lanes are re-routed to m.2 so the third pci-e x16 slot is disabled.

plain english enough?
