Laptop for Destiny 2 and Hyper-V/VMWare

Hey everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. I've been looking into getting a gaming laptop lately as my new job has me traveling a bit. I do some work in a single session of a Hyper-V or VMWare vm for testing OS builds so don't need an overkill on running multiple vm's at a time and when I have down time during my travels I'm looking to play with my clan in Destiny 2 and sometimes random steam games when we're bored such as golf with friends. Personally I'm fine with 60fps and don't really need the 120fps+ gaming experience. It would also mess with me switching between being at home and away when changing fps.

My current Desktop specs

i5-6600k overlocked at 4.2GHz

32GB of DDR4 RAM 2300MHz

GTX 1070

512GB NVMe SSD (it's an old apple one on a PCIe card, got it from an old broke macbook pro (¯\_(ツ)_/¯

4K LG 60Hz monitor (I forget the exact model at this time and I'm not home to check)

Ideal laptop specs

i7 (or i5 never really had an i7 before) previous or latest gen tho I'm worried about performance hit with the new security vulnerability patches coming soon

AMD Ryzen? Honestly never had an AMD chip so the whole area is new to me

minimum 16GB of RAM with an option to upgrade

256+ SSD/NVMe with the option to upgrade or have another slot

From what I've been reading a GTX 1660 Ti is actually pretty good so that or an RTX series card I suppose.

and thats about it. Don't need some high class gaming rig, just a general i can boot up and play at 60fps without breaking the bank.

Some laptops a friend or two suggested and that I've found especially with memorial day sale coming up.

Location meaning? and Budget I mean under 2K would be ideal. No real pref on weight or battery if it will be plugged in all the time.

I would recommend any 8th or 9th gen i7 so you get 6c/12t since you are planning to run virtual machines.

I think either MSI is a great deal.

There is no real difference between the 8th and 9th gen i7, but there is between the GTX 1660ti and the RTX 2060.

I would personally go with the one you linked on Newegg, but $400 more may be worth it for the 144hz screen.

Desktop:

AMD Ryzen 7 @ 3.9ghz 1.35v w/ Noctua NH-D15 SE AM4 Edition

ASUS STRIX X370-F GAMING Motherboard

ASUS STRIX Radeon RX 5700XT

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3200

Samsung 960 EVO 500GB NVME

2x4TB Seagate Barracuda HDDs

Corsair RM850X

Be Quiet Silent Base 800

Elgato HD60 Pro

Sceptre C305B-200UN Ultra Wide 2560x1080 200hz Monitor

Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum Keyboard

Logitech G903 Mouse

Oculus Rift CV1 w/ 3 Sensors + Earphones

Laptop:

Acer Nitro 5:

Intel Core I5-8300H

Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 2666

Geforce GTX 1050ti 4GB

Intel 600p 256GB NVME

Seagate Firecuda 2TB SSHD

Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum

Sadly the one from Newegg is sold out

So I picked up the following

https://www.frys.com/product/9887955?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

It's nice but the display doesn't seem "sharp". I'll take a look at the ones you suggested as well.

MSI GL series - questionable QC+QA. 9SDK only has 1660TI - 2060>1660TI

To be honest, after a week of having it, I'm rather enjoying it. the 1660ti does the job for me. Don't need the overkill of a 2060/70 anyways, but I do have 30 days for a full refund so I'll keep my eye out for other deals.
