Bottleneck problem

Hi,

I have a bottleneck problem with my i5-3350p and GTX 1060 6Gb.

I want to upgrade because in some games my GPU only runs at 40%

I was thinking about an i7-2600 or i7-3770, both are great cpu's, but is there alot of difference(fps wise) between those 2?

Which motherboard?

I'd go with the 3770, it's newer.

My mobo is a ASUS P8H61

It's not compatible with overclocking i think... but can i run a -K cpu on a non overclockable mobo?

And when that happens, your CPU runs at?

If it's the non-K version, I'd get the 3770 (or I'd think about flashing the BIOS so you can OC it a bit and get the 2600 if it's cheaper)

Cpu runs at 90-100 %

Yes you could throw an i7 3770 on it and it'd help but the price of a second hand i7 3770 is often higher than a Ryzen 5 what makes you think how worth is it opposed to rebuilding with current day hardware.

Even though your mobo doenst  support Overclocking you can still run a K verison cpu. The k only means you CAN overclock it, you dont have to, though i would also say go for ryzen instead but i think it would be easier to just change to that i7, since it probably uses the same socket.

You can run K version without even OC, but I would suggest you, try to sell that CPU Motherboard and Memory and get some money to buy new generation.

Here's what that might look like pricing wise.

This isn't even making compromises, it could be cheaper, but this is a solid buy.

Consider that you can sell your current mobo, CPU and RAM, and this new 3770(non k) is at least $80 on Ebay.

It's not a lot over the top, and this puts you into the modern age.

Anandtech recently did an article about the i7-2600K: https://www.anandtech.com/show/14043/upgrading-from-an-intel-core-i7-2600k-testing-sandy-bridge-in-2019

tl;dr, if you have the unlocked model and you can get it to operate well into the mid 4 GHz range, it appears to be a pretty compelling gaming CPU even at 1080p (moreso at 1440p and higher). If it's at stock though, it becomes less compelling of a processor to keep.

Pointless upgrade. You will be spending money on a dead platform, and all those CPU's are still 4-core, which will still bottleneck in recent games such as Battlefield V.

This is a good suggestion. Perhaps wait for Zen 2 to come out, and prices on Ryzen 2000 series to drop. 2600/2600X would be the best "budget" choice.
