AT&T Fiber Equipment

KevinH9

Hello!

I need to install a larger power strip for the equipment since I need to add the sound system. I had all the equipment for the fiber installed on May 8. The part im worried and confused about is turning off the ONT Fiber Terminal. Do I push the power button on the bottom then shut off the entire strip? I don't want to ruin the fiber cable.

Thanks!

you wont ruin the fiber cable by killing the power to it. All the fiber cable does is legitimately passes light. The ONT box does all the rest. There is no way to shut it down like a computer. Just need to kill the power and go. 99.9999% of the time its a non issue.

the 'do not disconnect' label is BS. you cant damage anything.

I've got AT&T fiber and I've had the power flicker and even go out several times since I've had it installed which kills the power to the ONT in the process. I'm still online and running just fine :)

The only way to damage the fiber is to physically damage it.

probably more a do not disconnect fiber from the equipment.

Power wise you won't have an issue.
