How do I learn about Different car parts

We also don't have the Hilux anymore. That quit in the 80's or 90's

It’s called a Tacoma in the states now. I think the Hiluxs are a bit bigger though.

Its a different truck. Very similar in some aspects, but overall different.

Yeah, I think the Hilux is taller and thinner now, more like a thinner Ford Ranger. The Tacoma is smaller and wider.

I honestly want the Hilux to come back to America. It always has been a better truck than the Tacoma in terms of build quality.

 

I believe the reason the US does not have the Hilux anymore is because the new Hilux would not past the US' excessively strict safety tests.

Really? They are super reliable here. Seen heaps with well over 500,000km, and some over a million. The Tacoma probably has the same engine as well, would not be surprised. I actually thought they were a rebrand at first.

Tacomas are only sold in North America, and a few select european countries.

 

They are built cheaper, because they sell for less money than Hilux's do. They are still incredibly reliable, but the Hilux has carried the moniker of the "unkillable truck" for a reason. It has a name to uphold, where the Tacoma does not.

 

When the Tacoma was first introduced the Hilux was sold concurrently. It was a cheaper alternative, and that stuck in the ideology of its design and in the minds of Americans. It is very rare to see a Tacoma in the US used for anything other than fleet work where they are treated as disposable. (F-150's are more famous for this, mind you. They are also relatively cheap and reliable)

I mean don't they sell like 1 every 30 seconds or something? And thats only in the States, AFAIK the F-150 isn't really big anywhere else?

Im honestly not sure where else it is so much as offered other than North America. (If any Mexicans are lurking, your Ford F150 is our F-150 XL, and your Ford Lobo is XLT and up trims. The base model doesn't seem to exist there)

 

I would argue that the F150 is the staple fleet vehicle for a reason. It gets really good fuel economy for a truck when spec'd properly, and being a car assembled solely in the US F150 parts are dime a dozen cheap.
