HP Probook 45 G2 Screen flickering grey

My parents have had this laptop since late 2014 and it has served them well, but recently it has had many issues with the screen. Even shifting it on one's lap can cause gray lines to run over the screen which leads me to believe it is an issue with the connection. It also made a strange sound once as shown in the video, which is odd considering the speakers are entirely in the lower chassis, though I was at work and didn't personally hear it. Taking it apart and reseating the cable helped in the past, and I guess there is a break in the cable somewhere in the hinge or screen. I think a full replacement is in order unless there is a good way to fix this, and I think that would require an entirely new screen which is not worth it.

Any help is appreciated before I gut it again. I've had the motherboard out before so I'm not afraid to completely disassemble it if need be.

It 99% likely is the connector. My school chromebook had the same issue and I took it apart and reconnected the connector. It fixed it so id say give it a go

Perhaps, but I suspect a break in the cable as a likely culprit as well. I'll open it up again and check the connector though.

No luck. The screen issues persist after checking the display connector.
