Ryzen 5 2600x VS Ryzen 7 2700x

Hey all Im buying this as a gift not for me.  User will be doing video editing and render 5 minute videos.  Also heavy Photoshop use.  Also gaming on a AMD 570 8GB.  I want to know if it is worth the 100 dollar price difference to go from 6 core Ryzen 5 or a 8 core Ryzen 7 2700x ?  Thx plenty AMD guru's.

If anything, I'd consider grabbing the R7 1700 as it should actually be cheaper than the 2600X, once you overclock it, it should be a better choice all around

Waiting for Zen 2 = Ryzen 5 and 7 becoming cheaper ?  Also is the Zen 2 chip or chips going to cost more then the current Ryzen 5 or 7 lineup ?

Probably yes as everyone will be offloading their 2600/2700 cpus for the newer zen 2 ones.

 

i assume pricing to be similar as zen+ or at least in the ballpark

Depends on the price situation locally.

At what prices can you grab the CPU, how much more is the 2700x??
Over here 2700x is back to ~300€, the 2600x is at 183/228€ (depending on the Cooler).

But either way, in around 4 Weeks, Zen2 is announced...
