Yeah, It'll be alright. You may run very slightly hotter, but it's nothing to be worried about.

You could, if you were careful about not overdoing it, add a very small amount of thermal paste from a tube to fill that spot, but I doubt you'd see a large improvement.

It's not like you bent a pin or something, it's just a spot of thermal paste.  You can either touch it up with a tube, or just try to twist the cooler a bit when seating and smooth out what's there.  Or just do nothing and use it as it, it should be fine, that's what the IHS is for.

It probably would run a few  ( 1-3 ) degrees warmer. You can wipe out all the paste and replace it if you have an extra tube of it lying around.

Nope, it's going to light itself ablaze as soon as you try to run anything. Return the entire CPU/cooler combo and get a new one.

I'm kidding man, you're probably fine, but if you're that worried, just clean and replace the thermal paste.

I'd say as long as you didn't eat it, you will be fine.

Now there's an interesting thought. I haven't actually checked how toxic my thermal pastes are. I have definitely consumed some while doing build and eating pizza. Especially back when I was re-jigging my chiller back in the day and having to re-seat the block and replace the ruined thermal paste every time I got below -20.

I am sure most thermal compounds are safe to eat, sure I would not make a sandwich with it but I dont think thermal compounds are that toxic.

They just wont taste nice :D

I mean sure there is a chance of them having mercury and lead but a lot of things we eat and drink contain those elements in some fashion (If you eat fish most fish have mercury and there is lead in drinking water)

sure this isnt a pleasant thought but small amounts of lead and mercury are fine and the reputation of both is vastly exaggerated, sure both are dangerous but in small minute amounts both are fine

Most compounds I am aware of use Zinc, aluminum oxide, nitride and even silver.

Now yes any of these in mass quantity can kill you (Zinc poisoning is very common in those who use denture cream and hip replacements can do this too) but still its not like if you accidentally consume these in small amounts they will kill you.

Wait... You're not supposed to eat it?
