Can you listen to voice mail as it comes live? Like in movies as soon as u hang up

In movies how are they listening to voicemail as the person is literally speaking ?

It depends on where the voicemail is being stored. For mobile phones, the voicemail is usually stored by your provider, so in that case it wouldn't be possible to listen to it as it comes in live. However, at least in the UK, landline phones typically store the voicemails locally, so you could (and usually can) listen to them live.
